PROGRAM
DESCRIPTION
To prepare applications-oriented technicians for entry-level employment in the
emerging career field of Biotechnology. Biotechnology is defined as the use
of living organisms or other biological systems in the manufacture of drugs
or other products or for environmental management, as in waste recycling. It
includes the use of bioreactors in manufacturing, microorganisms to degrade
oil slicks or organic waste, genetically engineered bacteria to produce human
hormones, and monocional antibodies to identify antigens.

REQUIREMENTS
Associate Degree or higher in a science related field and approval of the faculty
advisor. This advanced technical certificate program is intended to provide
a career path for degreed science majors to crosstrain into the field of Biotechnology.
