CNET 1113 Introduction to Computer Networking 3 2 2 0 COMP 1123 Introduction to Computers This course will introduce students to the concepts involved in networking computers. A combination of lecture and hands-on experiences will give the student basic concepts and vocabulary needed in the program.
CNET 1116 Cisco I & II 6 4 4 0 COMP 1123 Introduction to Computers and CNET 1113 Introduction Computer Networking Emphasis on building LAN and WAN topologies with fiber optic cable and twisted pair. Configure the topologies: ring, bus, star, and token by constructing them in a lab setting, also distinguishing between software and hardware conflicts in these topologies.
CNET 1123 Network Concepts 3 2 2 0 CNET 1113 Introduction to Computer Networking Students will learn about Network Hardware and how each piece fits into a LAN and/or WAN structure. Also, students will learn how WAN technologies work and how they are used with a LAN infrastructure.
CNET 1126 Cisco III & IV 6 4 4 0 CNET 1116 Cisco I & II A continuation of Network Technology I with expansion into the study of VLANs. Topics of ISDN and frame relay are covered as well as routing using IGRP for autonomous networks. Novell's IPX and PPP are also introduced. The study of Access Control List is employed as a means of filtering traffic. Successful completion of this course prepares the individual for the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification examination.

CNET 2183 Unix Based Operating Systems 3 2 2 0 CNET 1113 Introduction to Computer Networking Students will learn about the UNIX and Unix-like operating systems. They will also learn how to install, administer, and the day-to-day functioning of UNIX based operating systems.

They will learn to build networks, modify existing networks and supporting network designs. Students will also learn how to evaluate requirements and needs that are used to make good network decisions.

It will also define basic help desk concepts, identify features of call logging and problem resolution, and focus on the importance of asset management and problem resolution. It will identify the different service level certifications and use the common system management software features used in an IT managed system.
CNET 2323 Introduction to Windows Servers 3 3 0 0 CNET 1213 Windows Operating Systems Students will learn to install and configure Windows Servers. Students will learn how to implement, manage and troubleshoot Windows Servers; monitor and optimize system performance, reliability and availability; and implement, monitor and troubleshoot network security.
CNET 2413 Network Management 3 2 2 0 CNET 1213 Windows Operating Systems and CNET 2183 UNIX Based Operating Systems In this course, students will learn the concepts of network management. They will learn rights management, disaster recovery principals, time and basic project management, licensing issues and end-user support.
CNET 2443 CNET Capstone (Systems Integration) 3 2 2 0 All other core curriculum in the CNET program and instructors approval; Corequisite with either CNET 2223 Network Engineering or CNET 2413 Network Management This class will integrate all the concepts from the CNET curriculum. Students will learn how to work on networks that combine Windows and UNIX based technologies and how to work with others in an IT departments to coordinate installation, management, and administration of enterprise level networks.
